A little toast
to the return of champagne and strolling season! We are so excited to be kicking off summer with the second annual MSMA Champagne Stroll this Saturday, May 11th!
Following up on all the fun we had this past year at Art for Art's sake, we'll be having a few guests at the gallery on Saturday night. Alexa Georges will be showing her line of fine jewelry, and Ainsley Popov's will be returning with her line, Presmer, of exotic python fashion accessories and home goods! You'll be able to get a complete luxury look - perfect for mother's day! You could even make an event of it, and come shopping with your mom. Either way, we can't wait to see you there!
Ending with some very exciting news - starting in June, Gallery 3954 will be welcoming two new talented artists - Adele Sypesteyn and Seannie Kohnke! Seannie will be previewing some of her work (sneak peek below!) at the stroll, and we couldn't be more excited to have them joining us.

Window Shopping
A little peek at what's been in the window lately...
In case you were wondering....that is a gorgeous NEW lamp by Fifi!
(Paired with a small beauty by George, and nicely displayed on Kathy's lovely table!)
We are just loving the ribbing - adds such an amazing texture to the lamp.
The photos really aren't doing this color justice - it changes with the light so often!
Come by and see for yourself!

The Gloria Key Tassel
We've got a lovely new item here at the gallery, and wanted to share some photos and a little story behind the pretty!
Kathy Slater is now selling the Gloria Key Tassel, continuing in the tradition of her mother-in-law, Gloria Slater, who used to carry these decorative pieces at her antique store. We are delighted that she is picking up the torch (or the tassel!), as they make a perfect addition to the gallery!

They're available in hand-painted turquoise or gold silk, and you can find them here at the gallery, and also on Kathy's new website!

New arrivals!
There are some fabulous new Niermann Weeks pieces in the gallery! And we are just in love with this dresser....
Doesn't it look great with Julie's artwork and Fifi's lamps?
Here's a close-up of the finish and hardware.
We've also got this delightful new chandelier hanging up - and some more on the way - it's a Niermann Weeks new year at Gallery 3954!

Design Masters!
In the most recent issue of New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles Magazine, Gallery 3954's very own Fifi Laughlin and Kathy Slater were honored as two of the 2012 Design Masters!
Here's a sneak peek of the article, with some pictures....

Fifi on New Orleans..."
I do not think
I could have done this anywhere but New Orleans. First of all, if you
have an idea there is no doubt that you can find someone to help you to create
it…in any medium. I am fortunate to have one of the best glass blowers in
the country as well as one of the most prominent glass-casting artists to make
my bases. I also have several talented metal sculptors who build my metal
frames and hand-build all of the brass rings and feet that I incorporate.
I think it is an incredible gift that the city has such an array of
talented artists and artisans living here. Also, the people of New
Orleans totally support their local talent. We are all very proud of our
city and our people and most especially our local creativity whether it be in
music, food, fashion, art or design. One of the challenges is getting
things done in an efficient and timely way. We have A LOT of
distractions…Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, countless neighborhood festivals all over
town, there is always someone in town to entertain and this year, the Super
Bowl. These make our quality of life so wonderful but they do tend to slow us
down. "

Kathy on New Orleans...."There is so
much history and so many talented artisans in this city that you can’t help but
feel the creative spirit that surrounds us. It is such an asset to be
surrounded by the interesting shops and galleries on Magazine Street and the
French Quarter that attract tourists and locals as well. Incorporated in
the unique architecture of New Orleans is some of the most beautiful and
intricate ironwork in the country. As a result I have skilled iron
craftsmen available to help develop and execute the designs. Also, thanks to
the iconic street names of the city, each piece of furniture is named to
reflect where it was made. In contrast, although we have a couple of nice
showrooms here, New Orleans does not have the abundance of large designer
showrooms that other cities have making choices for samples and materials
limited without traveling."
Pick up a copy of the magazine today - such a lovely feature and honor for these two fabulous designers, including some fun information on current and upcoming projects!
