Better together...

We are so lucky to have so many talented artists and designers here at the gallery - and especially lucky that every piece each member brings seems made for the others!

The brass feet on Fifi's elegant glass blown lamp tie perfectly into the rustic barn wood mirror from Reworks -
the artful glaze drip on Julie's ceramic totem mirror the finish on George's abstract landscape - plus countless more matches made in heaven can found.

Come on in and find your perfect pair - or trio!

Lately..

...such lovely pieces have been making their way into the gallery!

Gorgeous new lamps from Fifi - with fabulous shapes and colors.

Loving this combination of pieces from Niermann Weeks, Adele, Kathy, Fifi, and George.

Look how chic Adele's red paintings are looking on those stands.

And glad to have some new, seriously amazing totems from Julie, keeping company with Seanie's sweet cows!

In case you were wondering....that is a gorgeous NEW lamp by Fifi!
(Paired with a small beauty by George, and nicely displayed on Kathy's lovely table!)

We are just loving the ribbing - adds such an amazing texture to the lamp.

The photos really aren't doing this color justice - it changes with the light so often!

Design Masters!

In the most recent issue of New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles Magazine, Gallery 3954's very own Fifi Laughlin and Kathy Slater were honored as two of the 2012 Design Masters!

Here's a sneak peek of the article, with some pictures....

Fifi surrounded by her amazing lamps!

Fifi on New Orleans..." I do not think I could have done this anywhere but New Orleans.  First of all, if you have an idea there is no doubt that you can find someone to help you to create it…in any medium.  I am fortunate to have one of the best glass blowers in the country as well as one of the most prominent glass-casting artists to make my bases.  I also have several talented metal sculptors who build my metal frames and hand-build all of the brass rings and feet that I incorporate.  I think it is an incredible gift that the city has such an array of talented artists and artisans living here.  Also, the people of New Orleans totally support their local talent.  We are all very proud of our city and our people and most especially our local creativity whether it be in music, food, fashion, art or design.   One of the challenges is getting things done in an efficient and timely way.  We have A LOT of distractions…Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, countless neighborhood festivals all over town, there is always someone in town to entertain and this year, the Super Bowl. These make our quality of life so wonderful but they do tend to slow us down.    "

Kathy with her Orleans Bar Cart, Upperline and Audubon coffee tables, as well Bienveille Etageres!
Kathy on New Orleans...."There is so much history and so many talented artisans in this city that you can’t help but feel the creative spirit that surrounds us.  It is such an asset to be surrounded by the interesting shops and galleries on Magazine Street and the French Quarter that attract tourists and locals as well. Incorporated in the unique architecture of New Orleans is some of the most beautiful and intricate ironwork in the country.  As a result I have skilled iron craftsmen available to help develop and execute the designs. Also, thanks to the iconic street names of the city, each piece of furniture is named to reflect where it was made. In contrast, although we have a couple of nice showrooms here, New Orleans does not have the abundance of large designer showrooms that other cities have making choices for samples and materials limited without traveling."

Pick up a copy of the magazine today - such a lovely feature and honor for these two fabulous designers, including some fun information on current and upcoming projects!

Rainy Days

It's been a bit rainy here in New Orleans (it is spring after all!), and if there's one thing rainy days make us appreciate, it's the effect beautiful lighting can have indoors when it's gloomy outdoors!

Dreary grey skies...

Clean, warm, well-lit indoors!

It's amazing how much brighter the lights seem to become when the skies darken.

The colors in Fifi's glass blown lamps change ever so slightly, becoming warmer - it's a cozy little gallery when the skies open up!

So happy together...

We just love how amazing Fifi's lamps and vases look on Kathy's wooden St. Charles tables. A match made in heaven!

The slight sheen on the finish creates the prettiest reflection!

Thank you! and the surprise!

Thank you to everyone who made it out for the Champagne Stroll, despite that pesky rain! We had so much fun!

Thanks to Fifi for bringing the pretty flowers - don't her vases look amazing with the bright spring blooms?

The champagne was flowing!

We were so happy to have George and Fifi there to chat with our visitors - we learned so many interesting things!

Several other artist friends stopped by as well - we snapped a picture of Jill Hackney with George and Fifi.

And now for the promised surprise - we are so happy to announce that we are currently showing a few works by Lisa di Stefano! They are generously on loan from
Ann Connelly Fine Art in Baton Rouge, and they are gorgeous!

They made their debut on Saturday - but will be with us for the next three months!
